Watch the sun rise in 2025 at Gwangalli Beach in Busan

On January 1, 2025 at 7 am, my family will be at Gwangalli Beach to greet the first sunrise of the new year. Last time, On 1 January 2024, my family arrived at 7am to greet the first rising sun of the new year at Gwangalli Beach.

We couldn’t see the sun rising over the ocean in the distance under Gwangan Bridge right away, but there were low ink clouds touching the ocean, so we could see the bright sun as it broke through the clouds.

Watch the sun rise in 2025

As I watched the first sun of 2024 rise over Gwangan Bridge, I made a wish in my heart. I wished for my family to be healthy and for all my plans to come true.

Every year, Gwangalli Beach in Busan is filled with people who want to participate in the sunrise event on 1 January. The sun usually starts to rise around 7:20 to 7:30 in the morning.

The beach road is crowded with sunrise crowds in the morning, so even though it’s cold, it’s better to refrain from driving and use public transport.

Gwangalli Beach Sunrise Transportation

If you’re coming by car, it’s best to arrive at Gwangalli Beach before 6:30 a.m. and park in the car park. There is a large public parking lot behind the Minakhoe Centre, so parking is cheap.

If you’re travelling by public transport, take Line 2 subway to Geumnyesan Station and take Exit 1 or 3 and walk down to the beach for about 5 minutes. If you get off at Gwangan Station, take exit 3 or 5 and walk down to Gwangalli Beach, which takes about 10 minutes.
