Expand your Horizons, Busan, the biggest G-Star 2024 is coming

The year 2024 was a banner year for gamers. Traditional ‘big’ games such as Mario and The Legend of Zelda released new titles to excite fans. The domestic gaming scene was no different.

With Neowiz’s “The Falsehood of P” selling over 1 million copies and the Korean national esports team winning gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2024 Asian Games, the Korean gaming industry was both “hot” and “hotter” than ever. Due to the success of these games, the game show ‘2024 G-Star’ is attracting more attention than ever.

Global Game Exhibition G-STAR 2024

G-Star 2024 will be held at BEXCO, Haeundae-gu, from November 14th to 17th with a record-breaking 3,281 booths, including 2,364 booths in BTC Hall and 917 booths in BTB Hall.

In addition to the existing BTC and BTB exhibitions, the event will offer new fun and experiences by greatly expanding new killer contents such as the hugely popular G-CON and G-Star Indie Showcase 2.0: Galaxy.

G-Star 2024 is expected to attract more visitors than last year, when more than 197,000 people enjoyed the game festival, as domestic and foreign game companies rushed to unveil new products and expanded new content.

This year’s G-Star will be attended by Nexon, which was not present at last year’s event, as the main sponsor, as well as global game companies such as Crafton, PUBG, Netmarble, Webzen, Gravity, Lionheart Studio, and Hive IM, and most of the major domestic game companies.

As such, this year’s event is expected to be a competition for new games. While previous entries have been centered on mobile games, this year’s event is expected to be hotter than ever as the console competition is in full swing, with demo plays of big titles aimed at the global console market.

Nexon, which is participating as the main sponsor, is expected to unveil a number of unreleased games, including First Berserker: Kazan, which has been shown at global game shows such as Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show.

G-Star Schedule 2024

G-Star 2023

This year’s G-Star is notable for the active participation of large game companies. In addition to NCsoft, WeMade, Netmarble, Crafton, Smilegate, and Google Play are participating. As the main sponsor for the second year in a row, Wemade will be demonstrating ‘Legend of Ymir’ at G-Star. It is a multi-connection role-playing game (MMORPG) based on Norse mythology. WeMade will also be demonstrating its baseball game ‘Fantastic 4 Baseball’. Smilegate is expected to showcase its in-development Lost Ark Mobile and Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol.

Netmarble will exhibit three titles, including “Seven Deadly Sins: Origins,” “RF Project,” and “Demise Ribbon. “Seven Deadly Sins: Origins” is an open-world RPG based on a popular Japanese anime. RF Project is a sci-fi MMORPG. Demise Ribbon is a collectible mobile RPG. In total, NCsoft will unveil seven new titles, including the online MMORPG “Throne Liberty (TL),” the shooter “LLL” and the brawler “Battle Crush,” among others.

The 2024 G-STAR will have even more attractions. It will host the Game Cosplay Awards, where Korean cosplayers dress up as game characters and recreate scenes from games, and the Subculture Game Festival for subculture game users. There will also be special programmes for game fans and talk concerts with popular game voice actors.

This year’s G-Star will require online advance ticketing. This is to ensure a safer and more comfortable viewing experience. Tickets must be purchased in advance on G-Star’s website (www.gstar.or.kr) by the day before the event and then issued at the venue. General admission is 15,000 KRW for adults and 8,000 KRW for youth (born after 1 January 2005).
